IR UNEJ Commentary – Contributions Guidelines

International Relations (IR) Universitas Jember (UNEJ) Commentary is a platform for experts to share views in regards to global issues that is managed by the International Relations Department of Universitas Jember. Published bi-monthly, IR UNEJ Commentary covers various issues such as geopolitics & International Relations; global security and defense; diplomacy and foreign policy; economics and trade; energy and environment; society, culture and human rights; mobility, migration, and transnational communities; religion, ethnicity, and gender; and regional affairs. The writings expressed here do not represent the institution.

 

IR UNEJ Commentary is looking for insightful writings from lecturers, students, and alumni of the International Relations Department from Universitas Jember and beyond that discuss global issues. The content must be original, not previously published elsewhere or under consideration to be published in other platforms, partially or as a whole.

 

Format

  • Your title should be as punchy as possible. Questions or assertions are best.
  • Content consists of 800 – 1000 words in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
  • References should be inserted as hyperlinks in the text, rather than using footnotes.
  • Bear in mind that Commentary is aimed at non-specialised readers. Your writing style should be engaging and straight-to-the-point, similar to that of a newspaper op-ed.
  • Be sure to explain any terms or concepts that a non-specialised reader may be unfamiliar with. Acronyms should be spelled out on first use.
  • Submit manuscript in Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • The maximum number of authors for a manuscript is two
  • Provide a short author (s) bio (100 – 150 words) with your institutional affiliation.
  • Send your writing to hi.fisip@unej.ac.id with the subject line: Submission IR UNEJ Commentary.

 

Ethical & Editorial Standards

  • Originality is mandatory. All pieces will be checked for originality and plagiarised work will be rejected outright.
  • We do not accept articles produced or substantially written by generative AI tools.
  • The external anonymous reviewers selected by our team will review your writing.  Author (s) has the opportunity to revise based on the recommendations.
  • The editorial team reserves the right to edit for clarity, length, and style, while preserving the author’s voice.

 

Compensation & Submission Policy

No financial compensation is offered for submissions. Publication is on a voluntary basis.
